z-2300 volume control missing/ replace with z680control?

I found a z-2300 subwoofer on Craigslist. It does not come with speakers or the control wheel. I have some z-680 speakers and a Z-680 control wheel. I look online to see if the prongs would match up for the wired remote input and they do.
http://www.google.com/imgres?q=z-2300&um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&sa=N&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1680&bih=884&tbm=isch&tbnid=QLfdnCDVcavNVM:&imgrefurl=http://hardforum.com/showthread.php%253Ft%253D1407133&docid=DKPtDswLtDKYlM&w=640&h=480&ei=Hmw0TqrnBNGltwf4_O2eDQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=550&vpy=442&dur=409&hovh=154&hovw=202&tx=165&ty=87&page=1&tbnh=130&tbnw=169&start=0&ndsp=41&ved=1t:429,r:27,s:0

So would their be any reason why it would not work?

assuming the pinout is the same then it will work, most likely. Try it and see. Post your results!

I would imagine the pin-outs will be different. As even the z-5500 rca style versus the spring clip terminals have different pin-outs. If you was to do it i would open the sub up and check the out puts and see what pin does what. Or perhaps someone might have done this. Do a good search for the pin-out and compare both of them.

Its looks like they match

The z-680 controller is digital and the z-2300 is not.

Just because the connector is the same, doesn't mean each pin does the same thing. Do some searching for z-2300 controller pinout and the same for the z-680

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/

All the info you need will be there. Just use the search as most there had their pod burn up. And they give pin-outs to make a bypass plug/cable.

Here is a thread about the z-5500 diy cable bypass.

This should give you a general idea on what you need to know, etc.
