Bulldozer Prep, Advice Wanted!

Thread Starter
Hello, I'd like to get ready for the launch of bulldozer because i'm ready to upgrade my 720 BE that didn't unlock >.<

I understand it will work in AM3+ so i'm looking for mid to higher range pieces to accumulate to get ready for the release in September. I'm looking for a decent GPU something around 170-220~ and Nvidia interfered for folding reasons.

I need the whole kitten caboodle. PSU, Mobo, Ram, GPU, cpu (BD) I'll be picking out a case and fans. Suggestions on a mid ranged monitor too because i haven't bought one in five or more years. I've been using a SONY Cad Monitor 22' But alas it is starting to get hickups and some blurry issues that go on and off.

TY

There is a huge sale right now on Gigabyte's 560 ti, $200 after $45 MIR. Pretty legit deal, I haven't heard a whole lot about Gigabyte's version of the ti, probably a good thing to be honest, no glitches with their version of the pcb.

It looks to have cooling on par with MSI' twin frozr and asus' DU options.

Ok, I can pick one of those up to be running in my rig now. TI Sounds like the old FX cards downgraded models though. Does it hold its own?

Ill help out with a couple small suggestions. I went kinda mid price range, as most people have some sort of budget.

Motherboard: Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3

CPU: Bulldozer, when the time comes

Power Supply: Seasonic x750

Ram: Something 1600 is fine. Gskill Ripjaws 4gb are decent. Also have a 10 dollar off coupon on Newegg atm. So they're cheap. Or if you need 8gb and don't want to buy two kits, these ripjaws X are nice too.

Monitor: I am pretty partial to the Dell P2411H. Its 24 inch, great monitor. $265. If you want cheaper, I have another in mind. Let me know. But this one is pretty awesome. If you can spend $400 on one, let me know there too.

I would suggest the sabertooth from asus
cpu BD what ever suits the needs
nvid gfx cards would suggest the same or higher. (560+)
power supply i would get the xfx 750 black edition.
and as for ram I would wait till released to see what works best with the cpu.(needless to say probability says there will be special edition stuff made for BD.)

That is a very good point. If you're patient, I'm sure they'll be releasing a whole lot of SE Bulldozer stuff. From ram, to hell, probably even case fans. Lol.

The Sabertooth he mentions is also a very good board. A bit ugly in my opinion. A lot of people think its crazy good looking though. Maybe its just me.

here's the list of components after looking at the information the people on this site were kind enough post or link to.

power supply-Corsair HX either 650 or higher depending on your needs

motherboard-Asus Crosshair Formula V or if Biostar surprises me and releases their first Tpower board for AMD

Ram-Gskill Ripjaws

gpu-I'd just rock your current gpu until the new video cards come out in early in 2012 unless you really need one now in which case I'd go with a 6950 I'll be probably be getting a HD 7950 when they do come out.

CPU-the 6 core BD will be enough since even by 2014 most pc games will still be using 2-4 cores

New Dell Ultrasharps are releasing soon the 24 inch is already up on their site for preview the 23 inch will cost less I myself am looking at these monitors and can't wait for the 23 inch ones to come out.

CPU: Bulldozer
Mobo: Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 or Sabertooth. (Same as mentioned above)
GPU: Wait for Radeon HD 7000-Series
PSU: Seasonic X-760. (Basicly a Rev.2 of the X-750)

RAM: 1600-2000MHz, Make sure to pick a kit with low CL Latencies.
Example, I picked a Corsair Dominator 2000MHz CL8 kit. I'll downclock it to 1800-1866 and set it to a tight CL7.

I hope people will remember that Special Edition stuff is purely marketing and doesn't really add to the performance.
