Weird 2600k voltages and clock speeds

I've just begun overclocking my 2600k, but this is the first time I'm tweaking a CPU with Turbo mode.

Here's the deal:

Turbo mode is enabled on the Bios. The multiplier is set to 46.

CPU-Z says that the CPU is @ 4600MHz, regardless whether it's idling or under load (Prime95). Core temp, however, states that the CPU is @ 3400MHz, the non-turbo clock, even under load. My temps are definitely for 4.6GHz.

Why won't Core Temp show the actual clock speed, and why does CPU-Z only show the Turbo speed?

Thoughts?

speedstep being disabled would explain why cpu-z is detecting 4.6...but i have no idea why they are showing diff clocks.

I'm having some apparently random issues with my CPU.

It is currently running at 4.6GHz @ 1.320v. However, the readings I'm getting from Core Temp and CPU-Z are even more awkward than before. I enabled speedstep and reduced the non-turbo multi by 2. This is what I'm getting:

At Idle, CPU-Z states 4.6GHz @ 1.320v, my Turbo settings. But, Core Temp, shows 3.2GHz (non-turbo clock) @ the very random voltage of 1.3661v. Why?

28wiaa8.jpg

Under load, CPU-Z shows the same thing, but Core Temp indicates a voltage of 1.711v!

Does this even make any sense? What's going on?

VID is just a voltage identifier, it doesn't represent the actual voltage. Core Temp judges the clock speed based on power states so it won't include multipliers higher than stock.. It's simply reading the stock power state and the clock speed accordingly. Thus, don't pay attention it(This really wasn't hard to figure out...not sure how you had any trouble with it:P)

Still, I've seen CPU-Z screens where the turbo clock was only shown when the CPU was under load. Any idea why it always shows the turbo clock?

Is your power saving feature ON? like C1E, C3, C6 along with speed steps that you have it on.
Does RealTemp show the same thing? (the MHz should move around when it's idle)
I use RealTemp since to me it is the most accurate temp reading.
Temp reading isn't the issue here but just to let you know...
