I agree sometimes the code names can get confusion. Here is the run down (Source):
AMD Bobcat Microarchitecture
Brazos Platform
Zacate: E-Series
Ontario: C-Series
Desna: Z-Series

Intel's Atom can get confusing as well (Source 1, Source 2):
Intel Bonnel Microarchitecture
Oak Trail Platform
Lincroft: Z6xx Series
Pine Trail Platform
Pineview: N4xx, D4xx, N5xx, and D5xx Series
2008-2009 Atom Platform (no platform codenames given)
Diamondville: N2xx, 2xx, and 3xx Series
Silverthorne: Z5xx

Usario;14416591]Well it's the same deal with the Atom, PHII X6 uses what 175W of power at full load? This Atom should use more like 10W.
TDP at stock settings is 125w.

PHANBOYS! I'm hurting from it

And... fail for whoever thinks this is a big deal, 1. It's a prediction.
2. This is 3-4 years from now, technology evolves amazingly fast.

Oh so technology 5 years from now will be faster than technology developed in 2004. What a surprise...

TDP stands for thermal power design. TDP is the amount of heat a chip generates, not how much power it consumes. This is why, generally speaking, lower TDP chips of the same family tend to overclock much better because they are better binned and use less voltage (like 95W 1055T vs 125W 1055T).

Seeing the core performance is similar to PII on core2duo; a few tweaks to such an arch won't be too hard to make it fill a low wattage. Slab 3 or 4 E8XXX together and you are already ahead of the PII X6.

Is this cool? Sure. But seeing Llano's performance and what is expected in the next years. Let alone, if there is a big move to OpenCL languages, AMD is still going to have a few teraflops of more performance on their APU design then what Intel will have by this time.

The point being is that it depends on what context they are saying this in. If they are considering pure integer performance, then no, but if they are comparing the entire platform, they could easily be referring to a PII X6 with an HD42XX GPU. The CPU may not go hand in hand, but combined with the GPU, then this atom platform would pull ahead. Also depends if atom IGP does well in OpenCL performance.

The second point is that we already have low powered architectures that already compete with current high end platforms. 18 watts compared to 11 watts. Give it a year and AMD could pull this off already.

Still cool though.

nobody said anything, it's a made-up article trying to cause a huge discussion and get more views.
sadly - it succeeded

That's the point: it DOESN'T. If going by a single threaded benchmark for performance, the Atom should be 2x slower than the P4, since it has half the clock speed. However it is way slower than that.

Both of the above are single threaded benchmarks.

I don't consider the leap to be anything out of the ordinary.
The above results came from your quote by the way. Atom is still lagging behind a Pentium 4 clock for clock. If they WILL beat the X6 by 2015, not only will it have to use two to four times more cores to do this, but it will be completely irrelevant. x86 is becoming less and less relevant in the low-power market right now, it will be dead long before 2015 at which point Intel will be irrelevant without them jumping on their worst enemy's architecture (ARM) and using it, let alone their Atom which is their worst CPU, completely useless for anything beyond word processing/web browsing on Windows XP/7 "Lite" right now, because ARM will have beaten Intel to the punch long before that, if this is their "grand plan".
