burning smell and 90c cpu temps for no reason!

Thread Starter
I was playing around on my computer ( as ive been for the past few days ) and all of a sudden i start smelling something burning comin from it. I gooogled it and found that lots of people have problems with bugs crawling up in there and burning up, so i thought since im currently in a cabin like house full of bugs that that would explain the sudden stench. I expected the "bug" to burn up but when i didnt i ran speedfan and found out that my cpu was hopping around 90 degrees celcius so i quickly shut it down and jumped on my laptop to ask what on earth could be causing this. I have water cooling, 6 fans on a 360 radiator, a heatkiller water block and everything. the only thing i can think of is that mabey my water isnt pumping (but it looked like it was when i checked). the water block is on there nice and tight so frankly im completly confused and i have no idea what is going on.

Please Help

I didnt really know where to post it but my cpu is the intel i7 920, so posted in intel. Please let me know if i posted in the wrong place.

Is the block seated correctly? Did you remove all bubbles?
How much and what TIM did you use?

What I'd check to do is see if your water is pumping through the tubing, the resivor, and the pump itself.

If that's the case, then replace whatever is broken

If that's not the case, then Try using a different cooler (Like an Aircooler for example) and check the temps then.

your pump is probably deadish! you could remove it and do a lpg test if you check the watercooling stickies it explains how to do one with a 5 gallon bucket!

Like many said, I'd check the pump and see if it's possible to run on air for a little.

Any recent OC's?

alright either i have the quietest pump ever made or it doesnt work at all.
I just went down, turned the comp on, turned off all the fans and took the cd out of the player and there was absolutely no noise at all coming from that thing. I dunno what i could have done to just make it die like that though. When i first got the pump it did give me problems but then after like a week it suddenly started working and hasnt stopped until now. I hope i didnt just fry my cpu or something

feel the tube leaving the pump is it vibrating? cause it usually vibrates from teh pumps outlet cause of all teh pressure of the water being pushed through it!

yeah i checked it in a desperate hope that he wiggled free, and then i plugged it in to a different place to see if it was the wire, but to no avail!

ima keep doodling around to see if theres anything that can pump life back into my computer ( pun intended loool )

edit: i pulled the pump out of the 5.25 inch bay so i could watch it to see if it was moving and it definitely is the pump thats the problem. thisll be a huuuuge pain to replace

Thanks for the rep man! I caught the problem first too (and I don't know much about custom watercooling setups).
