Something I'm worried about, that'll be in BF3...

Hey all.

I'd like to share with you guys something that's been on my mind since I saw the first alpha footage of BF3.

I know it's alpha, but I'm not talking about bugs, graphics or anything 'beta' related. I'm talking about a gameplay related something.

I'll start of this way: I like that in game you get rewarded, for a headshot, a multikill... just like in BFBC2, you get rewarded, every time you kill someone that satisfying sound pops out and tells me 'mission success'.

The rewards in BF2 were very limiting, you sometimes got a ribbon or a medal at the end of the game, but that was ok, because the game didn't distract me too much from the game itself...

In BFBC2 it is doable even, I got used to it. But I'm afraid after seeing the BF3 footage thet they are overdoing it (just like COD is).

I was looking at some slow BF3 alpha footage and every second or so I saw a big ribbon pop up at the top of the screen: surpressing, headshot, vehicle, blablabla. That's ok if it's small and not so frequent, but it takes up alot of screen space, is very noticeable and seems distracting from the game, chaotic even.

The bright green names along with bonus points stick out even more then in bfbc2 and they seem distracting from the game itself. Steering very far away from the calm, thought through gameplay from bf2.

It's just like COD, in which I think the game only still appeals to some people because you get CONSTANTLY rewarded for ... well ANYTHING. Huge killstreaks, rising in ranks every minute, badges, anything! Just because it gives a sense of achievement and fast gameplay.

To me: overdoing it just makes it less satisfying whenever something great happens. I'm not looking for yet another rushed game (even if it has the elements like bf2).

Don't get me wrong, the game I first got into is BF2 it was the only game I could play, and it is the game I put the most hours into to date! I know what I'm talking about, and as a real BF2 player, I know what I want (and expect) from (what they tell us will be) the next true sequel to BF2.

I hope they tone it down, or that I get used to it.

Anyone else feeling the same about this topic?

That's only one part of the problem though, it's all the rest as well. Still, it seems a pretty hectic gameplay. If the online gameplay would be as 'bloated'(wrong word ofcourse) as the singleplayer footage we got to see: THAT is what I'd like

I never thought of that llama16, but you have a really good point. I would rather have the BF2 style than anything when it comes to rewards and crap like that.

Thanks . Sorry though, becasue as soon as I realised, I couldn't stop thinking about it. i'm crossing my fingers.

I'm sure I'll definately enjoy the game (I enjoy 'satisfying' and 'rushed' games as well though), but will it feel the same as the glorious BF2? Becasue that's the kind of gameplay I've been missing since.
