I sold the sink with pics of the dent and full disclosure that it might've been an issue. But based on the lack of negative feedback from the buyer and your photos I do not think the dings are an issue.

What I do know however is that my VenX did slide around until I put a large washer in between the mount and the sink. Its SOLID now. And yes...it improved temps. Check out my Picassa album for pictures of the mod...Jodiuh is the username.

Hope this helps!!
you need to be careful with that washer mod, it can end up bending your socket, the brace itself can apply 70lbs of pressure and intel recommends nothing over 60lbs, ill contact the guy, see what he says.

I did it for years on my TRUE on various boards. The VenX setup's not giving me any issues either. Careful...haha, you're funny.

Yes but Thermalright's 775 mount blew especially after lapping. You could twist the heatsink like crazy. You needed a pressure mod with 775.

Well, I did return the first 2 P7P55D-E Pro's due to excess flex in the board when clamping the latch. The 3rd one didn't flex nearly as much. I suppose all the Foxconn=bad posts scared me.

Either way, I seem to be ok. I'll come back and eat my words if it explodes, lol.

ahh actually if your lapping that makes sense haha since you are removing an amount of the base of the cooler and even more if you lap your cpu

when i get my new fans i will be trying this cooler again, as it seems to beat my mega in reviews!

You got those? I need to see some pictures I was planning to get those before I fell in love with some AP-31's.

Not to hijack this thread but is there a large performance difference between the Ven X and Ven X Black?

glad to hear your problem is solved now

personally, this what I really like from my Ven-X.
it does scale well with more powerfull fans.
and in some certain scenary, the noise of the fans were surely paid off by the cooling performance

It would seem worthy since it's a pretty good cooler. I've seen it perform better than the Archon. Vortez's charts show the Archon can only get near 60 for best temps.
