Resolution problem with BENQ EW2420?

Thread Starter
I bought the BENQ EW2420 monitor and I have a problem when using the standard VGA driver.
The screen is 1920x1080 but as I change GPU drivers, the screen will load the standard VGA driver and will not allow me to select more that 1024x768 display.
The display then has huge black borders around the edge, why does it do this?
Thanks.

you are limited when you don't have the correct drivers for your video card installed. What video card do you have? you need to install its drivers for it to work right. The monitor isn't the issue.

Check if there are drivers for your monitor, a friend and I had an issue like this with his P2770HD. After installing their driver it allowed us to set the res to 1920x1080.

most of the time it is only that when you can set a high res, but nothing that matches your monitor exactly.
He already mentioned that it is loading the vga standard driver, which means his video card doesn't have a driver installed for it, so it is stuck using the default resolutions, which only go up to like 1280x1024.
