From Dust - "God Sim" from ubisoft

Hey all.

I've not seen this game mentioned on these forums so i figured i'd post a thread, it might interest some of you.

I gather you all can remember the Black and white games? (Or even Doshin The Giant for GC) Well From Dust seems somewhat similar to them, except it's emphasis seems more on nature itself. The world changes, natural disasters mold the landscape and it's your choice if and how to intervene.

Here's the first dev diary for it:

Dev Diary 1:

It looks a good game and i must admit i'm pretty excited for it. It's available via STEAM for PC(Preorder, release 17th August) for £11.99, and already available on the 360.

It appears to have gotten decent reviews, IGN saying:

Whats your opinions of this title?

I've been following the development progress. Can't wait for it to release on the 17th.

Is it a sandbox, or is there an objective? Either way I'm pre-ordering.

I believe the objective is to keep your tribes people alive - although i did hear you don't get heavily penalized should they die. The sandbox is at the end of the game once you complete the storyline. I may be wrong on this but thats what i picked up from videos.

The tribes appear to worship holy "totems" (rocks, lol) which grant you the ability to alter the landscape (move water, lava, earth, etc) so i assume if they die (through natural disasters) you lose those powers.

I have a strange feeling that this game is going to be just a new gen Black & White

I don't think it'll be anywhere near as tacky. What they showed of it looked great.

$15?

This how you do it devs! Even if it's modestly decent people will flock to it because the low cost of entry.

I just noticed that if you purchase you get a hat in TF2. With TF2 store pricing, that's like buying a hat and getting a game as a bonus...

From Dust won't have Ubi's DRM.
