rate my cyberpower pc - Page 3

Glad my post helped didn't have too much time this morning, was using super combos to make my point faster. My transition went from cyber pc to super combo to individual parts/ 2 peice combos. My set up so far is about 2k including windows monitor and one of the fastest ssds. With windows I got the OEM home premium but I plan on upgrading to home premium for 30 dollars with Microsoft student discount. If I did it again I'd go with a noctra d14 or h70 for CPU cooling, not that zalman 9900 is bad, it's very good and silent, only cause it's not considered the best . Start looking at individual parts IMO things like the p68 vs z68 options and 5-10 dollar price differences and figure out what you need.

Hmm so I checked around newegg some more, outside the combo deal section this time, and put this together...

Case: Antec 900
CPU: i5-2500k (probably will OC)
CPU Cooling: Scythe Ninja 3 (could probably go for a cheaper one on this)
Mobo: Asus P8P67 Pro
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 570 (maybe OC)
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM (don't really plan on OCing the RAM)
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series 650TX
HD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB
DVD/CD: ASUS 24X DVD Burner OEM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM
Zonet ZEW1642D Wireless Adapter

for $1210.90 total. How's it look?

^^I went for home premium OEM for ~$90 on newegg, as I don't really need the professional edition.

Thanks

I heard 4 GB is good enough for gaming, although I guess getting a bit more couldn't hurt. I can get 8 GB for around $10 more, but the 4Gb is at 1600 mhz while the 8gb is at 1333 mhz. 8gb at 1600 mhz is around $20 more. Would 4 extra gb of ram outweigh ~300 mhz?

I don't think I'll have to RAID, since I think 1 TB will be more than enough for me atm... unless RAIDing speeds up loading times and start ups or something.

Drop that seagate. WD Blue or Black, Seagate is complete crap imho.
Why the choice against the CM 212+ ?

Also see if there is something other than that Antec. It's not a bad case but its very heavy and doesn't do justice to some of the nicer cases around..

At 99$ + 13$ shipping look in the F/S section for an all aluminum case or check newegg for some cheaper Lian Li or something.. personal choice of course but you will be blown away from a 100% aluminum case.

I'd say get a 2x4GB kit 1600MHz preferred....

I agree with the 1600mhz, but 8GB! lol 4Gb is entry level x64 system now. RAID0 does speed things up quite a bit.

+1 to 8GB, do an EASY overclock to 1600 though. Running StarCraft 2 I use over 4GB.

Perhaps, but computers don't only play games. They run windows which likes to use ram and offers caching. It helps with load times and when windows is initially loading up all the startup apps and services. Does make noticeable improvement and would be worth it.
