u can get a PSU like the 430cx for ~$30usd but not sure what the inflation is on that stuff. OCZ is OK i had one die on me..they replaced it for free but took a week to send one and cost ME about $10 to ship it over to them. only good thing about it is that they send me a newer generation PSU of the same power.

would try to save up for a corsair if i was you.

lighting up LEDs takes little to no power so im not surprised if the lights turn on. it must be almost dead.

I'd suggest a Rosewill Green series if you're looking for something a bit cheaper too. Sat on one of those for years without any issues.

Sice youre in the UK, look for something like an XFX PRO 450w or Antec 420w. They are reasonably cheap.

I had this problem about 3 weeks ago now.
Only I wasn't as lucky. I had a 750watt Lain Li that decided to go homicidal first and took out the motherboard.

Worked out nicely tho, gave me an excuse to upgrade.

I don't think my boards bust as It starts all my fans with the dell, Unfortunately the dell doesn't have a 6 pin for the graphics so i haven't been able to test anything on it.

Come to think of it...don't Dell PSUs use a proprietary 24 pin design
