Thread Starter
I currently have 4GB DDR3 memory in my sig rig and as it's such a low price I'm considering buying another 2GB (or more) just for "future proofing" as it's so cheap atm.

Would you guys recommend buying more now or will the prices continue to fall much more?
Also how much longer is DDR3 to be expected to be used for?

I hear DDR3 is gonna drop again in a few weeks, so while I'd lean to "wait and see", you prolly will only lose $5 buying now. For example, I just snagged this RAM: KVR1333D3N9K2/4G from NCIX for like $28 after all taxes went in.

2GB as a single DIMM may not benefit you as you think as while you get the extra memory, you will be running at single channel and reduced performance as a result when using up the memory (which may detriment you depending on what task you are performing with your computer to need the extra RAM). 2x2GB goes as low as $25 for a 1600Mhz kit though so it's worth the difference.

Again as Quantum Reality said, the price continues to drop. NCIX had a RAM sale of 2x2GB DDR3-1600 for $25 right now but I just cancelled the order in favour of waiting for prices to get lower (alongside the fact that I couldn't pick up on time before leaving Vancouver for 10 days).

Well, the way I see it, if 4 gigs DDR3-1333 set me back only $28, I figure by the time the price drops go through I might have saved a whole $5-$8 waiting 3 weeks.

Hell, that's a Wendy's meal for Chrissake, not gonna fuss

Been tempted, but personally I decided to save the cash for the next time I upgrade my overall system. Plus it might fubar my current OC since I have to bus OC.

Not like I use over 4gb anyways. Now if I wanted to multibox in a game or something, like I use to, I'd be in RAM paradise.
AMD, I give up.

Prices could vary well go up once people start building new bulldozer rigs within a couple months. That's assuming that the demand goes up and the supply stays the same of course. I'd buy it now if it was me (and that's what i did do last week ).
