Firefox: The Flash plugin crashes all the time

Thread Starter
It's really bothering me, every time some flash supported advertisement shows up the whole browser freezes for 1-2 minutes and the flash plugin crashes and a gray error screen with a frowny lego-esque head shows where the ad was.

What can be the reason and what might be done? I've tried reinstalling the plugin, to no effect. Is it possible, that the flash plugin is in conflict with another plugin? This also happens with videos on youtube.

Thanks.

Its possible that it could be your video driver. Do you have the latest video driver, firefox 5.1, and the newest flash? You can also try reinstalling firefox as well.

Maybe I'll have more luck with Chrome. Can I import my favorites/bookmarks from Firefox to Chrome?

It has the option to do it but it never worked for me, you may have more luck. I always had to end up dragging the links over.

You may still get crashes in Chrome except only one pages with Flash crashes. Try uninstalling Flash, run the Flash uninstaller, reinstall the latest version of Flash, uninstall your graphics driver, and then install the latest version of your graphics driver.

For Firefox, you may want to hold shift as you left click to open it an restore it to default profile. Make sure to back up your profile and/or firefox sync if you use it. If you use Firefox sync, make a new one as your old settings may be interfering.

On one of my laptops, I got Flash crashing in Firefox and Chrome. It is a plugin, driver, hardware issue.
