You can set the memory to run t 1600mhz in the BIOS. Otherwise just increase the FSB

Don't even bother trying.
The board is an AM2 base design with 3 phase power and prebuilt quality. It is so far from being capable of handling a 125W processor that I'm sure it will throttle your CPU due to VRM overload at stock (if protective throttling happens to be present on this board).

Second of all, there probably aren't any OC options.

Lastly, the board won't allow you to custom set your RAM speed/timings/voltage either.

Basically, this prebuilt board won't really do much or anything for you. It will have trouble running your CPU, never be able to OC it, and won't be able to run your RAM at the rated settings. You need a new motherboard.

Interesting but the MSI 870A-G54 may not make the situation much better. With 125W CPUs, this board is actually known for failure. The VRMs (improperly sized drivers seems to be the culprit) on this board and variants have the highest documented failure rate. With watercooling installed and no cooling to the motherboard components as a result... the only thing you're doing is stepping out of one pool of risk and diving straight into another.

If you can, you should swap the G54 for a different motherboard with better value and parts quality.

Listen to xd_1771, of course, but in regards to your question, I know from personal experience you can use 1600Mhz RAM with a 125W 945. The RAM kit I have is sold as 1.5v 1333Mhz, but mine is at 1600 and 1.6v (which is the lowest my motherboard goes). Feel free to PM me for detailed specs. smile.gif

Any boards with BIOS frequency switching options should be able to manage 1600Mhz through an x8 memory multiplier. A C2 rev processor will do it with 2 DIMMs, but not 4.

Hmm. I have mine at 240 * 6.66, I believe. That's interesting that it won't do 4 sticks, though. I had my 4GB and 8GB kits in at the same time for a couple days, but at 1333, I believe. Then I got some odd BSOD and figured it wasn't a good idea.
