9800GT Vs 9600 Vs GTX 260M?

Thread Starter
I currently have an Asus laptop with an Nvidia GTX 260M with 1GB dedicated memory. Iam trying to get a feeling to what my GPU can handle and what it cant so I am tying to compare it to other GPUs. I've researched my GPU and from what Ive read its supposed to be like the 9800GT but clocked higher. Is this true and how would these compare to the 9600? Would my current GPU be better, equal or slower than these GPUs?

Its directly comparable to a 1GB 9800GT (with slightly slower clocks than the 9800GT) - it should be faster than a 9600

So games such as dead island which recommend the 9600 would run on high settings with my current gpu? How is the 9600 GT compared? is it faster than the regular 9600?

Depends on your CPU as well. If you have one of those Asus laptops that have been on sale quite frequently on Newegg with the 2GHz Core 2 Duos some more demanding games on the CPU like Bad Company 2 or Black Ops may not run as well as they could with that GPU.

Dead Island however looking at the system requirements should be perfectly fine so I wouldn't worry.

No, I think a 9800GT would be significantly better than the 260M. Even the 9600 would be better but not by much

Same as a 9800GT. Same number of stream processors.

CPU plays a big part as well in a laptop.

It could be a 260M with 96 cores. There is a 96 and a 112 version, both with 1GB

He said GTX 260M which is 112. The GTS 260M has 96. Read the first post.
