Produce Combinations

Thread Starter
Does anyone know of a piece of software, a website, a script, etc. that can have 2 or 3 lists entered into it, and then it would choose one line from each and combine them at random?

It doesn't necessarily have to display all possible combinations at once. One set at a time would be fine.

you could write that using C++
what exactly are you looking for as an outcome?
like, what will you be entering in and what do you expect to get?

EDIT: i do not mind writing it if it's within my knowledge. Give me some really specific instructions on what you would like the program to do and i will write it to the best of my ability. Mind you, it will be run through the Command Prompt (shouldn't be a big deal though, i can send you an executable of it so you don't have to get bloodshed dev c++ or visual basic)

I'm looking for a way to have a single, random line fetched from multiple text files, and then have that combination output somewhere, whether just to some field or another text file.

For example:

Text file A -
  • I like
  • I hate
  • I love
  • I despise
  • I cherish

Text file B -
  • Heather
  • Adrienne
  • Jennifer
  • Christine
  • Debra
  • Cheryl
  • Susie

Text file C -
  • some of the time.
  • most of the time.
  • a lot of the time.
  • pretty much never.

So it would go in, get a line from each, and display something like:

I love - Adrienne - most of the time.
I hate - Debra - some of the time.

etc. etc.

I know it's a weird-sounding example, but you get the point. The line choices don't have to be separated by hyphens, but they preferably would be separated by something, like a comma, semi-colon, slash, whatever.

I'm basically looking for something like Random Line Picker, just with the added functionality I mentioned.

It would also be nice if I could have it select multiple lines from one of the files, with this option being togglable. So like if it chose 2 lines from the third file, you could get something like, "I despise - Jennifer - a lot of the time - most of the time."

I'd be willing to make a little donation to someone if coding this would be a little difficult.

Legal reasons?

I'll be making tons of wedding invitations for a friend, and the idea was mentioned to make each one somewhat unique.

www.random.org has a lot of tools. Other than that, write something in your favorite scripting language.

o that's fine then.
well the reason i was mentioning is because if you attempt to make money off of it or use it for something "unmoral" i don't want to be responsible for it.

ill start messing around with it today if you'd like

but again, the program i have in mind will just display the randomized objects in the command promt. is that OK or are you looking for something more sophisticated? i'm still in college learning the stuff

It will probably be fine. I just have to see what you come up with. It will be good practice for you if nothing else.
