Looks pretty darn good, cool find.

Edit:
Unfortunately it looks like you don't get the full DX11 benefits like tessellation using this.

Loss of localized reflections too to the skyscrapers too

Not a huge fan of the shadows either

How is it these modders make the games look so much better in the short time the mod tools have been out? I would be embarrassed if I worked for cryteks art dept.

Shadows are a downgrade and contrast is too high. Too cold and hard on the eyes, needs more fuzzy. Textures look awesome though.

To explain, shadows should realistically have a penumbra effect (shadows get more blurred further away from an object). It's demonstrated here. Note that on the "penumbra on"-picture, the tree's shadow is blurred while the concrete barrier and ambulance have sharp shadows. This is intentional (and realistic) and this mod seems to remove that. Yes, the sharpness has some sort of wow-effect, but it's unrealistic and ultimately a step in the wrong direction. Crysis didn't feature penumbra shadows, but a modder (Xzero) actually made penumbra shadows for the first Crysis. This Blackfire guy apparently doesn't realize that he's combating what we wanted in the first game.

This mod is looking both good and bad. It doesn't really seem to do much over the original graphics. What really seems to have changed is the textures and TOD. soft shadows are more realistic imo and should stay soft shadows. Or he should at least give you an option. The depth of field is a bit overdone and there some other effects that I'm not liking too much. Modders aren't doing very much to impress me with this engine yet. Although it hasn't been out for too long just yet so we'll see how things improve.

Yeah, shadows are worse. They are supposed to be soft, not perfect looking, sharp and deep black.

I was going to make a post saying what you said then I read your post. -.-

Shadows aren't meant to be so crisp because of reflecting light from other objects and there's way to much motion blur. I wonder how many textures they redid or if it was just a few.

Still I love the fact that Crysis 2 supports mod tools, they didn't need to do that, but they did and that gets props IMO.

I agree about the shadows, but everything else looks better than Crysis 2 was. This mod could be compared to Crysis's Real lifesis mod.

It doesn't look better or worse per se, it's different. The textures are a definite improvement while shadows are (as mentioned) slightly worse (I think we can agree that it's a minor thing). TOD and lighting are pretty subjective OTOH. I personally think the contrast is way too high. If one likes the new TOD then it's an easy decision, but I'd just go for the texture pack (which you can get separately here).

(Also, boobs at 1:20 of the gameplay vid, so it's not all bad).
