Yes, and DA2 is basically a "hack and slash action rpg" with a lame story and "copy and paste" dungeons. Characters have great depth, if you talk with them just a few times... if you keep talking they will very soon run out of lines. I mean, even the damned romances are shallower than in DAO.

That said, you can have fun with it.
And there are a few great moments... though not enough if you compare it to DAO (which is what you will do, since the thing is a damn sequel ).

Just don't pay premium and expect epic.
It's more like pay premium and expect standard

I wouldn't have paid 50 bucks for it if I knew how bad it is but, I would still have bought it eventually.

I would recommend The Witcher and The Witcher 2 over Dragon Age any day.
Easily on par with the Neverwinter Nights series.

And the reason Im saying that its ok on its own is because you cant compare apples and oranges without at least admitting they taste and look different.
DA:O was intended as a true western RPG for fans of that format.
DA2 was intended as a Hack + Slash Action game with RPG elements for fans of fast paced games with little true plot cohesion.
Those are 2 completley different markets, and 2 completely different kinds of game. In the role it was intended for it was hugely successful.

If you want your "resume" to be considered seriously you might want to learn to separate your expectations for a game from what the game is actually designed to be.

You're right. It was incredibly stupid of me to expect a sequel to a quality RPG to be... a quality RPG... Instead I got a watered down hack'n'slash designed around the lowest common denominator; Ritalin popping 15yr olds with the attention span of a fish...
Besides, it wasn't the just the genre shift that pissed me off. It was how blatantly cheap it was. There was literally 2 freaking tilesets in the entire game. This for outside! This for inside! You never know difference!

Go play the demo and find out for yourself. People are not exaggerating when they said it sucked. They dumbed down the gameplay, the world is more linear and even took out the rts camera view. Everything in this game was a failure compared to the first DA.

DA2 is fun but gets very repetitive fast , i just wish they would have done something with all the copy and paste coast lines and dungeons.

+1 for not getting DA2. You will be basically spending 25 hours in the same few maps over and over and over and over and over ---> chapter 2 and over and over and over and over --------------> chapter 3 and over and over and over and over again.

Yeah. But they didn't do so bad with ME2... lets hope that the "EA board of c***suckers" don't rush it too much and don't press Bioware to "crêpe" all over ME3.

I still liked it, but it did have its flaws.

I have to agree with most people In here. The story leaves much to be desired and I finished it thinking I didn't achieve anything and the Hawke character was just bland regardless of that Mass Effect type dialogue wheel, which was complete garbage as you would select a reply and It would be nothing like what the wheel said. I don't mean word for word, I mean like a complete difference In subject.

The gameplay was repetitive the whole game takes place In the same city apart from copy pasta caves In the mountains.

I would wait until It Is a bargain bin.

Also as far as importing your Orgins story, my Orgins character was mentioned a handful of times all of which gave me the feeling of no importance.
