P8Z68-V BIOS not overclocking cpu

Thread Starter
My P8Z86-V is not overclocking my cpu. I changed the multiplier and did some minor clock increases and voltage increases and none seems to be saving. I reset the computer and the speed of my cpu changed according to the BCLK increase but not the multiplier increase. Does anyone know how i can put my increased multiplier into effect?

run prime for a few seconds and see whether or not the multi rises, if so, that means you have EIST and C1E enabled which is a good thing.

I ran prime and thank god the multi went up. What does EIST and C1E do?

It's a safety feature that allows the multi to drop when the cpu is not under load. It's perfectly normal and for sandybridge it's a good idea to keep it on. By the way it also helps overall temps temps

Is turbo disabled automatically when overclocked?

i think once overclocked, it will adapt that speed upon load, and when the system is not utilizing heavy load then it drops it to half e.g. CE1 on sandy bridge in loaded state is 3.8ghz, unloaded is 1.6ghz ... turbo doesn't play a part when the system is overclocked above 3.8ghz since this is the turbo speed for sandy bridge.
