D14 not so great - Page 4

This is ridiculous, lol. You should wait to see the difference at like 5ghz+ before you complain...

Or you could just send it to me if you dislike it so much. wink.gif

Of course, I'm not sure a 2600k really needs a heatsink as good as the D14. OP might have spent money he didn't need to spend.
A 2600K will need it if you want to push it 4.8Ghz+ depending on vcore. I've tested the Silver Arrow, D14, EVGA SuperCooler, CM Hyper 212+, CM V6GT, Antec 920, Corsair H70, and Corsair H100. You're right to say that pushing will a chip will definitely show which are good and which are great. I've have both a 2600K and 2500K that I've taken over the 5GHz mark and you need a cooler that can keep up.

To the OP, unless you put the cooler to work you won't see its true colors. It's like driving a Ferrari to the grocery store. Sure it can do it, but why hit the open road and see what its really capable of?

Can the D14 really push a 2600k to 5.0 24/7? As I'm about to build my 2500k rig and I wouldn't mind hitting close to 5.0. Although my expectations are 4.6GHz~4.8GHz.

tell me what ya think so far i hope it passes the 20runs cause then ill up it 2 4.7Ghz@1.36VCore

You need to push your CPU up towards 200W TDP. That is what separate the men from the boys when it comes to heatsinks.

Sandy Bridge does not really need a great heatsink to keep it that cool. Older Nehalem CPUs needed a great heatsink for high overclocks.

This, the thing with air coolers is that once you pass a certain level idle temps wont change, its how high the load temps go thats the big change.
