Asus G72 Overclock

Thread Starter
My laptop comes with an overclocking software for the CPU and its nice to have when I'm running Crysis 2 and would like little better performance. Now my question is, would I be able to overclock my integrated GPU and possibly my RAM? Ive read that you can overclock your GPU in the nvidia control panel but haven't been able to find anything within the control panel relating the clocks of the GPU. Same for overclocking RAM, there is supposed to be a setting in the BIOS for configuring the multiplier on the Ram but I haven't been able to find that either. Is there any safe way to overclock my GPU and RAM?

Ocing ram gives no increase in performance, however I dont think you can OC the ram in the bios. I used to have a g51 and most options that would be on a normal bios was locked. To OC your gpu download MSI afterburner, should do the trick. Also OCing ur cpu should automatically OC ur ram because fsb on the cpu is linked with ram speeds because its a mobile chipset.

Increase core bit by bit until you see artifacts or crashes then slowly back down till u r fully stable. Temps should always be under 85 because they usually throttle and shut down. Very annoying. However your laptop might not do that.

Use MSI afterburner to increase clocks and kombustor to check for artifacts. Run kombustor for 10 mins and see what happens. If everything is good keep pushing the card. But keep temps below 90.

There are also some mods that help with cooling such as drilling holes on the cover under the video card. The only thing is, it reduces some of the flow designed to go through the ram and board. You can also get copper heatsinks to attach to the heat pipe to reduce temps. Check out notebook review, it's the 'forged' copper mod for the G series laptops.
