Q6600 Reading different Core Speeds

Thread Starter
ok so within the computer properties, (right click on computer, then properties) it reads my CPU at 4.05. Ok buttt through CPUz i read a 3.6 with a multiplier of 8 and a FSB of 450. So which should i go off of, my goal is to achieve a 3.6 with DDR2 @ 1200.

Windows always goes by the stock multiplier (yeah, even Windows 7).

hehe it's all good. I think more people don't know this than both of us might realize.

I think that not enough people check that Properties panel.

this is true! but from my era of OCing XP always read the same, just had to double check. I need to upgrade, if your still here, would upgrading my GPU to a ati 6950 bottleneck?

What?! It did?!

Now that's sad. Although, that little properties box did kind of feel like CPU-Z... I miss that part of XP.

For the record: I never adjusted my multiplier back then, so I never noticed.

Anyway, I think that going to a 6950 could be a downgrade. Although, I don't know the Radeon lineup well enough to really know. So I also don't know if it would present a bottleneck anywhere.

So just so I'm sure: when you changed the multiplier, XP would recognize it?

the OS would recognize my overall CPU speed to be 3.6, windows 7 says 4.05. so yes XP 64 did recognize it.

Oh wow.

I suppose Microsoft's excuse would be "...but Vista and 7 have a completely different Kernel. Besides, you have CPU-Z.". I am disappoint.
