Should i change my M/B

Thread Starter
I have a x4 965BE which i have overclocked to 4.1ghz, im currently using my old m3a79-t-deluxe board which i have updated the bios to 1801. Would i get any o/c benefit in possibly pushing the cpu harder if i changed my m/b to the new chipset ASUS Crosshair V Formula. I know i would gain DDR3 also, does make a big difference in performance overall...

Cheers guys.

Well, Not really at this rating unless the Crosshair V formula has a REALLY good VRM design so you can push more volts through it.

OOPS, scratch that. No, there's no point in upgrading unless you want to go to BD.

You are good where you are with that board and DDR2. I had that board before and know it's a great OC'n board.

Going to DDR3 from DDR2 with a Phenom II chip doesn't make any difference, maybe a small fraction in benching.

This is the BIG Question, do i go with the new M/B and wait for BD to arrive, or do i go all out and jump over to the Blue Side and go Sandy Bridge

Wait for Bulldozer and make an informed decision.

If you expect it to be better than SE, you may be right, but with the new intel chips coming out AMD will be behind again.

So maybe i might change my Board to a current generation board (and in prep for BD). The Formula V might be a go'er. I just like to have the "best" of everything....
