[1UP] Diablo 3 Will Require Players to be Online When Playing - Page 8

I wonder why they do this and then blame people for pirating, then jack up the price, then people get blamed for the game not doing well instead of the game companies for pulling stuff like this when this stuff is what people complain about the most. So instead of dropping prices or getting rid of DRMs, they add more DRM and raise the price.

A great many people played D2 offline. I was one of them. Forcing D3 to be an online game gimps sales; requiring an internet connection isn't going to bolster sales numbers. That is of course unless they couple that with an AH where they take a cut of every transaction and allow players to spend actual money.

In conclusion:
  • No Mods
  • Internet Connection 24/7 Rerquired
  • And Pay2Win

Yeah, I think I'll skip over it for Skyrim (offline) and SW:TOR (online).

What am I reading here ...You guys are really excepting this crap?

There's no way I will buy this game if it stays like this.

I cant believe this has become acceptable ...I thought the complaints about UBI were legit and here it turn out that most of you are immature fanboys who will eat up what ever nonsense is given to you if you like the company behind it.

Yeah, I think I'll skip over it for Skyrim (offline) and SW:TOR (online).
- What mods aside from MH/Bots? I'm talking about mods that are usable online. Name me a good one usable on B.net then I'll care.

- Diablo is an online game. This isn't like D2 where a good amount of people didn't have internet yet, which is probably why "a lot" of people played offline back then. It's 2011. The majority of people have an internet connection.

- If you read the new news thread posted here that has an interview with a developer, you'd know you do not have to pay anything at all. In fact you could make money off the game without putting anything into it minus the box itself.

You make too many assumptions before doing research. You're the one that needs to get a clue, dude.

I was the same.
I started D2 BNet like a year ago.
D2 Offline/LAN is where it's at.

Boss mod and Hell2x mod where two good mods I used, but that was in the glorious singleplayer.->

-> Because in the glorious singleplayer you didn't get kicked out just because you lost Internet connection...

So it's just assumptions that some, no wait, ALL micro transaction MMO games are extremely unbalanced because some buy items that takes months to get.
Not one item, but ALL the top tier items all at once...

Come back, I've been kicked out of my game, because of a spike on my already spotty ISP. I would rage pretty hard Supposedly, I have 24/7 up-time, but it's hardly the case when the only service I can get completely shuts down for two hours each night.
That isn't how they've done it with SC2, so I can't imagine that being the case with D3 either. If you're disconnected, your progress just isn't saved on their servers, in addition to achievements not being available.

Without having that much interest in any news of Diablo 3.. it sounds like its an idea of turning into a semi-mmo thing... this sort of reminds me of guild wars O.o

I guess the "allways online" is to prevent cheaters from instantly getting these random items otherwise there wouldn't be an incentive to bother selling / buying?!

it would also explain why there's no bots / mods either (Blizzard needs to release more content so more people can farm and sell..... )

I guess people should buy this game from an MMO point of view O.o

Your opinion that Diablo is not an online game, and hey that's cool, doesn't make your opinion right or wrong, but it certainly means it's not a fact. In fact one might argue that the very existence of a single player mode is evidence that a game should be playable whether online or not. That would be my opinion.

On to your next point, I have indeed read all of the source articles posted here on OCN and realize that as of now, D3 does not yet require a monthly payment (I think Bli$$ard is saving that for D4. Oh snap did you see what I did there?). However, none of what you said had even the remotest connection to my original point, except for the word money. Pay2Win has nothing to do with monthly subscriptions my unlearned friend.

A fixed isometric camera view has nothing to do with whether or not eyefinity should be enabled. Bashiok actually gave you the answer in that same reply. It has everything to do with the limited FoV and view distance:

Quote:
"It's a single-monitor only game, and that's because the game literally only pulls info from the servers for a specific distance away from the character for bandwidth reasons. The game is also built with those limitations in-mind: edges of maps don't extend way out."
The fact that it's a fixed isometric view wouldn't completely negate Eyefinity's value. The way the maps are designed and the aforementioned barriers do. As for why this is relevant, simple. It's just another point where the game fails to deliver for some. Personally I've still get the Witcher 2 waiting to be played due to it lack of support for Eyefinity. When you snag 3 monitors, and have experience playing games with/without, then I'll be happy to argue that particular point with you. As you don't your it's like comparing your opinion '84 Mondavi to Bernard Sun's. It's just something you've heard about or maybe even tasted once at a party, but you have no real authority on the matter.

While Blizzard will not admit to stocking the AH with items for real cash, they never admitted it for Diablo 2 either, yet it was obvious that the macroers that did not get banned and could collect the super rares to sell for real money out -of-game were Blizzard devs. I expect the trend to continue - the biggest sellers will be 'players' who cheat with Blizzards blessing.

With that said, if you liked Diablo 2 multiplayer, D3 looks like an upgraded version of that. Like it or not, it is what it is - Diablo 2 Multiplayer version 2. It is not a sequel to Diablo or Diablo 2 - it is a sequel to Diablo 2 Bnet Ladder.
