[PCG] Diablo 3 will let players buy and sell items for real money - Page 17

Hmm, alright.. It's not gonna stop me from playing, that's for sure.
Also, I've played Diablo II online for a looong time and those item farmers spamming every sec was real annoying, so if this keeps them away, go go go!

Wonder if this whole shabang will take out D2JSP.. (The aforementioned bot forum turned item store overnight).

All in all I strongly disagree with this and to all the people who say 'oh there won't be bots blah blah'

WHATEVER. There has been no multiplayer game to this date that did not have some sort of cheat, bot or whatever introduced to it. Adding a chance at real life money only makes this drive for botting greatness much much more extreme.

Video game items being worth real cash is just mind boggling to me.

Now an item being worth 7 times the value of the game itself, I simply cannot comprehend this. Truly hysterical.

Magic Rooster Egg = $399.99

Believe me it's a huge market.

People pay big for wow accounts with the best items for example. Ranging in the upper hundreds, or heck even a grand or two.

The fact that Blizzard is encouraging this with the AH system is great, because not online do you not have to deal with third parties anymore, but any normal player can get in on the $$$

Yup, friend of mine sold his rogue back in TBC for 950 bucks. Dual glaives full slayer set.

For people who don't know that was 'the' gear to have for a rogue back in The Burning Crusade.

Now it's useless and my friend has yet another rogue at max level (85..).

Sounds like a clever milking system. Props to Blizzard in being able to do this I guess. *shrugs*

THIS IS NOT DIFFERENT THAN HOW IT WAS BEFORE WITH D2, OR PRETTY MUCH ANY GAME.

BIG PICTURE:
Item/Gold selling will happen either way.
There will be attempts of botting either way.
Would you rather have SPAM BOTS and ITEM SITES all over, or suck it up and let blizz handle it?

At least this way blizzard gets a cut, allowed for better server support ect.

AND AGAIN THIS IS 1000% OPTIONAL. THERE IS STILL AN AUCTION HOUSE THAT USES IN GAME GOLD.
Thank you! I don't think anyone complaining really has experienced the botting and sales of items that there is going on in D2. This and the AH is going to make it fair enough for those who can not spend a whole lot of time in the game.

Just because it was already happening, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Exactly, the difference is blizzard might make some money out of it. They expect to break even? Lol, what if they start making money? Then what do you think they'll do? Blizzard framed that response to make it seem like they weren't interested in using that feature to make money, but they're hoping and praying it blows up and they can have any reason to expand it.

Maybe that's the case for the actual sale, but the flat fee blizzard will be charging will be going directly to them.
The money stays between Blizzard and the buyer/owner I'd expect. Just like it does on Playerauctions, and Sony's Live Gamer exchange. They mediate the payments for both ways.
