that's horrible news to me. I will probably skip D3. I am very disappointed with the current trend of tying gameplay with real world money via microtransactions, DLCs and obtaining virutal items with $.

You two need to read the thread or atleast the last two pages. It's getting tiring repeating everything

Wow, this is incredibly disappointing. I thought the main point of Diablo was to find good gear and work your way up. Now you can just buy your way up. I have a feeling the new in-game currency is going to be worthless again because everyone is going to trade their stuff for real money instead.

If Blizzard does increase the security in their games, and limits the amount of botters (because obviously it will never be eliminated completely), won't this diminish the ability to bot and sell, which was so prevalent in D2. Therefore, there would be no need at all for this new AH. IMO, this is a huge mistake on Blizzard's part, and I hope they realize this before the game is released.

Very, very~ VERY disappointing news for me. Heard this over the weekend, and it really took my breath away honestly. Going to be very hard to celebrate the release of this title for me. Which is a shame~ honestly won't affect anyone here, but it does myself~ and that's unfortunate.

You're repeating nothing~ your reasoning doesn't really change anything at all. The fact is, this is a developer/publisher taking advantage of a system that gives artificial control and advantage to players that spend money in their game.

It's not a practice I support~ as it is a practice any game can pick up overnight. It's the power of the consumer that dictates whether this is a success or not, and I am a consumer. It's who I am, it's who you are~ we have a right to our opinion.

This thread is too long for me to read but I'm getting the impression that everyone thinks this is a bad thing. So much so that it is a deciding factor on buying the game or not. You shouldn't be so quick to judge.

I don't disagree but it could be a nice feature of the game. The fact of the matter is this already existed in D2, Blizzard just had nothing to do with it. There were dozens of sites where people could blow their money to get items in-game. Anyone ever hear of D2JSP? Yeah, who knows how many thousands of people purchased forum gold to buy items through the forums.

Did this effect your D2 experience? You probably never noticed the difference and the fact of the matter is you will never notice in D3. You just assume it is another service that Blizzard is providing to get more money out of the players and you might be right in assuming that. The thing is is that no one is forcing you to use it and Blizzard isn't just in business to make video games, they're in business to make money.

Edit - By the way, read the article and not just the title of this thread.

The war on the sale of in game items is doomed, like the war on drugs - best to embrace it rather than fight it.

Would be good if they didnt let you withdraw your credits from the auction house aka cash out. There will be less incentive for people to "farm" the game that way.
