Being acquired by Activision may have something do with this, I don't know, I do know I haven't bought a Blizzard game since the early 2000's.
What are you even ranting about, if you don't want to buy items from AH, don't.

And the game isn't $80+ as you were saying earlier.

Annnnnnd with the setup you have, you have no room to complain.

There is a separate auction house in which in-game gold is used for trading instead of actual dollars. No one is forcing you to spend your money; if you don't like it don't use it.

There is a problem with this argument however because even though you may not want to buy items from the AH, the game will inevitably force you to. For example, lets say you just saved up enough gold to buy something awesome, and you look in the AH for anything good for your character. What do you find? Nothing, because anything that is of worth is going to be in the AH for real money instead. Thus, you are forced into either selling your own items for money in order to afford an item in the AH, which doesn't seem like a good economy to me.

Hint - Read the article instead of just the title of this thread. This is like the 10th time that I've mentioned in the various DIII threads that there is a separate auction house that uses in-game gold.

The game won't force you to do anything. You can grind, farm, and completely ignore the auction houses all you want if you choose to.

Word, the way you put it made it seem like you thought there was only the one auction house. My bad.

Anyhow I imagine there must be some kind of dollar to gold conversion rate. This would help keep the same quality of items in both houses.

Yeah, if the two auction houses have roughly the same items, I'd be happy . I only fear that the cash AH will dominate the in-game currency one .

Yeah, I'm curious to see how the two houses will compare with each other and how its regulated by Blizzard.

guys, I'm sure the best items will be "bound"

But in every MMORPG there is a sercet underground market for buying and selling items and currency
