How to fill my reservoir

Thread Starter
I've got the Acrylic Tank Reservoir for Laing D5 from XSPC
http://www.xs-pc.com/manual/d5tankres.pdf

The problem with filling it is that i've mounted it so that the inlet is vertically facing up and the outlet is horizontal. This means that i can't open the fillport on the reservoir as water would come out of the side.

I would recomend that you remount it flat. I have that res, the seal on the lid is not made to be holding water 24/7 it is only a cap with a very short thread.

What you could do is get a reducer on the cap and then screw a barbed fitting to that with a pipe to use as a fill line. - I am not recommending it tho.

How did you not think of this before assembly?

Good luck getting it sorted though.

I suggest that you turn your case so that the reservoir fill port will be facing upwards. once you are done with the bleeding, you can put your case back up.

This is about the only way to fill it but as has been recommended, I would add a T line into the Res if you intend to run it flat. Wont take long for air to get sucked into the pump if you forget about it.

You could get a swiftech micro res and a ek top for the D5 you can mount the d5 vertical that way, and have the mico-res somewhere above it.

Can you get a picture of the case and loop on please, I will be able to make the best recommendation this way.

i dont have a camera on me right now but it would look similar to this except i have a 240mm on top and on the bottom cooling my cpu and gpu
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/6296/img1180j.jpg

the only problem is that is only viable place to mount the reservoir and pump. im not sure if the D5 can be installed so that it can be in line with the res. i might try the X-RES 100 from EK

i could but im not sure if the single bay reservoirs are strong enough to power my entire loop. Im not sure how quiet they even are when im aiming for silence

EDIT: How would this be:

http://www.ekwaterblocks.com/shop/ek-d5-x-res-top-100-black-acetal.html
http://www.ekwaterblocks.com/shop/reservoirs-and-acc/reservoir-acc/multioption-res/reservoir-holder.html

it can be vertically mounted and i'll hold it in with maybe 2-4 holders. Would the pump be too heavy and make it slip?
