For new build, right now it's going to be i5 2500k for that price point. No questions about it.

2500k is best bang for the buck for a gaming PC right now and overclocks like a beast.

If you want to get into overclocking and have a nice chip, the i5-2500k is exactly what you should get. Dont get the i7-2600k unless you plan on using the hyperthreading it has.

Most people on here will agree the i5-2500k is what you will want.

If you want to build a decent gaming rig, Get the i5-2500k, a decent-good mobo, A good GPU probably around a GTX 460 depending on monitor res/amount of them, and good cooling for the overclocking. You might also want to get at least a mid-tower case so that you have at least some room in it and allow some good ventilation in it.

For a gaming build I'd go with a little more GPU power than the 6850.
You can probably save a few bucks getting a Samsung Spinpoint F3 HDD over that Western Digital without loosing anything performance wise.
H60 - you can get comparable performance out of a cheaper air cooler. Better off putting the extra dough towards the GPU.
JMO of course.
