sound is very low with my new ASUS XONAR DX

Thread Starter

I've just bought the Asus Xonar DX card from amazon , and I previously had creative xtremegamer but it was failing in both hardware ad software .

when I installed the ASUS Xonar , I did a clean install of windows 7 and I installed the asus inified driver from here

then when I plugged in my Creative T6200 speaker system , I got a very low sound , then I maxed the speaker volume in the speakers and the windows volume , and still the result is the volume is about 30-40% from it was with the xtreme gamer !

so I removed the unified driver and installed the Asus original driver from their website no 1794 and nothing changed only a mismatch between the front and rear speakers and was easily solved

there is also another matter , the quality of the sound with the xonar card is very bad compared to the xtreme gamer card !

in most of the movies the sound effects in the movie are louder than the dialogue !

in the asus control panel when I perform the 5.1 test and click on LS (left surround) for example the sound is very very loud , but when I play a movie or something and max every volume par , I can hear every thing but it is so low !

I read in some forums to mark the loudness equalization in the enhancement in the sound control panel , but I can't seem to find It !

it is like it is not even there , I got {general - level - advanced} !

what should I do now ?

of course , I've ANTEC Earthwatts 650W PSU , and it already have a separate 4-pin power cable !

Are you suspecting that it doesn't receive enough power ?

In the Asus audio center, go on the main tab and look for the little hammer for 'HP Advance Settings' and have a play with them.

No not really, you should be good. I've just seen another person have problems with that card and it was just as simple as they forgot to plug it in. wink.gif

Look for the smart volume option in the Xonar Control Center. Some movies I have noticed are much lower volume than what you might expect.

Which drivers did you use? There's only one set of drivers on Asus's website for the Xonar DX. Those are the ones you should be using.

I just got my xonar dx too and I think I have the same problem. I think my old audigy se was louder. I downloaded the latest audio driver from asus and I have the floppy power cable connected.

I enabled the smart volume and it did increase the volume in some movies and about 30% of the other movies the sound was not good , so it is disabled for now .

first I used the unified driver from the link in my original post , then I uninstalled it and then installed the asus driver no.(7.12.8.1794 )

so what should I do ?

I'm relived that I'm not the only one having this problem , please if you found a solution , post it here

thanks
