usb 3 devices will only work via a hub

ok, wierd one, if i plug the wired mouse into any of the usb ports on the mother board and restart then it says "looking for device" and driver failed, i've tried the normal, updating and looking for the driver etc but to no avail.

If i plug the mouse in via a usb hub then the mouse installs correctly and if i power off and back on everything works, this is an unpowered usb hub that's all it is. if i have the nouse plugged in directly into one of the usb ports then when i restart the computer the mouse doens't get any power and i have to un-plug it and then plug it back in.

Means at the minute can't have any thing plugged in any of the USB ports? i've got a wireless keyboard and mouse as well and that works sluggish if plugged in direct, plugged the wireless trasciver into a usb port direct and just slow sluggish movements.

Tried mother board drivers etc, this is a new build. checked bios etc etc...nothing that i can see.

So to recap, any thing plugged into any of the onboard usb ports the machine powers up, but the usb devices are either not working or sluggish if using the wirless, have to unplug the mouse and plug it back in.

If i use a hub then if i restart the machine eveything works and i get power to the mouse and the wireless is fine.

Thanks

Honestly it sounds like you do not have the right usb controller drivers loaded for your motherboard.

mmm, i know, but double checked and removed/re-installed drivers for them all, it would seem that any thing that's plugged into the back of the machine on boot just doesn't get power, well the mouse any way, the wireless device works but it's very sluggish. only way this works is either plugged into the side of the PC on boot or via the USB hub.

i have a wired keyboard and that works no matter what port it's plugged in to that's what's confusing me as the keyboard works, gets power on reboot, mouse won't....
