Bought my first gaming laptop today. NEED ADVICE.

Went with this model. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+L...=1218346639131

My question is since this is my first laptop what else should I buy? One of those cooling pads? Is there anything you guys recommend me doing outside of that?

A mouse.

If you keep the laptop on a hard surface, don't even bother with a cooling pad.
If you ever put it on a couch or bed, check out the Coolermaster U3.

Do you have a mouse for it? Carrying bag/backpack?

A Mouse, and run a game for about an hour and check temps. If they are high, then check on a cooling pad. Some laptops are made for good cooling already

Invest in a mouse. If temps are above 70C then you should consider a cooling pad. Especially if on carpet or non-hard surfaces.

you can use prime95 or just run a game if you want, and use a program to check temps. Like Coretemp, but I remember Coretemp not being very accurate. Still does the job though

how about a Fiio e7 and some decent cans! And a Mionix Naos 3200, it'll match the finish of the Asus perfectly. Yup, that's about it

A SSD, maybe a wireless keyboard and mouse, a good set of headphones. I think a SSD is the best thing you can buy for yourself.

If I could -1 I probably would. But people overrate SSD's WAY more than Halo 3. It's annoying.
