So enlighten me?
The only 'mods' I had ever encountered in D2 were maphack and auto bots.

Perhaps listing explicit details may be more constructive.

The most fun I had with D2 was in the mods.

The Median series and Talonrage to name a few. Giving the community an outlet for their creativity was a fantastic move. They added hours of content and items to the game,

I actually still play D2 to this day exclusively for the community of mods that are still being produced.

Since when were mods and bots a big deal? I know I've never used them to play online and people always complained about those that did.

What's the problem again?

I'm curious as well. I'm surprised mods are this big of a deal, if the game isn't good enough without mods just don't buy it, but if it's a great game then it's a shame someone still wouldn't buy it because of mods.

I don't think Blizzard really has much of a reason to care anyway, the people that would go so far as to skip the purchase because of this likely represent a very small percentage of their user base. I'd be willing to bet those users represent less than 1% of the overall users.

...but no mods would make it...a console game :eek

(though even consoles are starting to get modding ability in a few games)

They can do what ever they want to Diablo 3. Dungeon Siege 3 ended being somthing other than another diable clone so it isn't any competition. Along as the game play stays realatively the same as D2...people will probably buy it in droves.

It is probably less than 0.001% and Blizzard can care less about those whining cry babies.

I'm not sure how a dedicated team of modders can be classified as "whining cry babies". Especially since mods were supported in D1/D2.

The series has a legacy among thousands of modders since day one, taking the feature out is a bad move.

Different game but similar situation with people saying they won't be buying it. A small portion of you may be serious. Most will end up buying it anyway.
