[KT] Diablo III Mods Are Banned. - Page 8

Imagine if SC2 had no custom map support... TBH its the same idea here. So once you get bored of the game, there will be no way to change it up at all.. this and constant online connection... doesnt look good... DRM FTL.

Not the same idea at all.

SC2 relies on custom maps to survive since it's an RTS. Diablo does not need mods to survive. It survives off the player economy.

Have you even played D2? Stop crying over mods when it was never needed.

Good lord honestly.

Not even remotely true.
Do you have facts to back that up that the majority never played online? That's a load of rubbish honestly.

Also the only 'mods' that I can think of for online were: MH and bots. They were never supported to begin with so nothing has changed.

Someone here said that a mod was actually playable online. Great, but was it over B.net? Private server?

Ubisoft riled the masses with news that Driver: San Francisco will have always-on DRM, requiring that players be constantly connected to the internet for the game to function. Ubisoft has used constant DRM in previous titles, such as Assassin's Creed 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction, arguing it combats piracy. Players argue DRM is an unfair, frustrating hassle, and Ubisoft is now counter-arguing this point, with the announcement that always-on DRM has been "a success."
drm takes weeks to crack and ubisoft earns lots of money

always on DRM coming to a pretty good video game near you in the future

$60 price tag
no mod
always online drm

whats the problem guys?

Different game but similar situation with people saying they won't be buying it. A small portion of you may be serious. Most will end up buying it anyway.
LOL this is so true.

I'll be buying this no matter what... sadly. But this mod thing doesn't really affect me at all.

Same.

I'm buying it not because I'm some sheep that bends over to Activision Blizzard. I'm buying it because I know it will be a great game and all of the new news posted ( Online requirement, no mods, real-money market ), was really not 'news' to begin with. They were expected.

- Diablo is meant to be played online with friends/other people. Online requirement made obvious, since obviously you need to be online to play with friends/other people. ( WOAH! ) If you want to play SP while you're on a plane or don't have internet access, play another game. ( WOW THAT WAS HARD! )

- The only 'mods' in D2 were MH and Bots. Those were never supported by Blizzard and I wouldn't be surprised if they are made when d3 releases; it's almost guaranteed they will be.

- D2 had a HUGE real money market. It just wasn't known to the casual playerwhich is now made evident that the majority of people here were either casual players, completely oblivious, or did not bother trying to get the best items by any means necessary.

That might be the case with a select few games. Generally speaking, games are cracked the day they're released or even before. SC2, FA3, Fable 3, Witcher 2 (when it had DRM), portal 2, DA 2, etc.. that's just off the top of my head. A lot of the top groups in the cracking scene are not only very good at cracking now, but also obtaining games before release. I'm not going to mention names since it's against forum rules.

DRM serves no purpose imo. It'll stop those from pirating the game that wouldn't pirate the game in the first place. And those that would? They know how to get the cracks and get them to work. Hell, if you know what you're doing you can crack simple drms yourself using a hex editor/debugging tools.

Oh there certainly weren't any mods that changed the gameplay at all, right? New quests, monsters, classes. Me playing as a hobbit in a Lord of the Rings D2 mod must have been a dream.
