How much will my CPU bottleneck GTX 460 - Page 2

Just buy it
a 3.2-3.5ghz cpu won't hurt much.
My friend has a 4850 on a athlon 6000+ and he runs bfbc2 on medium with a fraction of your graphic card.

It will bottleneck it, I don't know why these people are saying it wont... I had an Athlon x2... and my 460... got pretty bad frame rates in some games at 1080p... upgraded to phenom x4 and crushed everything I threw it at.

This is my own personal experience, I don't know why these other people are saying it wont bottleneck, I have actually delt with a similar system to yours, and I know for a fact theres a significant bottleneck.

I'd still buy it though, you can upgrade CPU later like I did.

There's no doubt I'm buying it. I was just wondering if I should save some money and go with a GTS 450 instead if it's THAT much of a bottleneck. I've no idea when I'll be able to get a quad....

There will be a bottleneck indeed, but not by much.
I'm pretty sure if there is a bottleneck with a 460 there would be one with a 450.

Let's say 10-15% less per card the 460 still wins.

My experience was a dual core Allendale E2180 at 3.6ghz with a 4850, upgraded to a 5850 and it made a significant difference. Obviously when I moved to my i5 2500k it was a huge leap in performance, but the jump to the 5850 back then still very much helped.
