Should I wait for i7 2600k to drop in price?

Thread Starter
Currently this is the question I am debating. I'm in the UK and Aria are selling it on sale for £222 ($361). I've been waiting for about 2 months now and it hasn't really shifted in terms of price.

I am determined to get an i7 2600k for many reasons and there isn't a sign of a new Intel CPU (socket 1155 and sandy bridge) and I don't aim to get an AMD CPU, so should I just buy it now? Or can anyone give me reason to wait or hold off?

If you wait any longer, you'll want new Ivy Bridge.
So get it now or wait for Ivy Bridge.
SB is already not that expensive so if the price comes down, it won't be that much of a drop unless you want to wait another whole year....

I agree with Tuna!

Waiting for technology never works (although I have done it...)

I kind of wish I'd waited for the Z68 boards but I didn't know about them when I got my P67. I'm really happy with it and it's good I just don't like the fact it doesn't have an embedded GPU and isn't the most up-to-date (but when is a PC builder ever? redface.gif)

Lol dude... I waited for z68, then waited for the z68x ud5, then waited a few weeks for the z68xp ud5, but then gave up after a few weeks because I was waiting my life away...

Also, I would not expect any dramatic price decrease in the 2600k over the next year, or three for that matter. Intel prices tend not to drop very much, even when new tech is released.
