Then why bother releasing SB-E and Ivy Bridge just months apart? SB-E is most likely to be released this November, but Ivy is so close to be out as well. It still doesn't make sense if they're worried about IB outperforming SB-E.

Because the multi's tend to stop at 59X on Sandy Bridge.

133 X 59X = 7.8Ghz
100 X 59X = 5.9Ghz
show me a 5.8ghz on air with video to prove ....

If they keep them at 100 stock, even with a locked multi, a baseclock of 250 will net 8.3ghz on a 3.4 stock chip so they won't be artificially limited like 1155 sandys are. Only advantage of an xe would be 15mb cache, and higher bins. Hopefully we'll see them in 2011.
since when is 250 bclk giving you 8.3 on a 3.4ghz chip???

same goes for your assumption on how high these chips can clock ...

just like every other sandy ... there are just a hand full of golden chips that can reach 6ghz .. and its not for the lack of effort or trying...

How do you figure? Ivy Bridge is just Sandy Bridge with some Tweaks, 3d Transistors and better ipc on a 22nm process. What makes you think they won't go higher then sandy bridge chips already do?

assumptions again ... you're assuming that tri gate transistors will help their processor scale farther ... and you also expect the smaller fab process to help too on top of that ....

assume less and i wont try to correct you on those issues
