No, the updated 555 is the 558. 515s should be going out of stock in favor of the 518s, I believe.

I never catched the 555's on sale and I got desperate waiting so I went and grab a JVC HA RX500 for $20 lol

Question still needs to be asked...good pair of audiophile cans to be had...dying to update this cheap gaming set of headphones for something with some depth to match my sound card

I would think that the 555s or AT AD500/700 would be the most recommended.
Yep 555's and AD700's are better, more expensive too. AD500's seem like they are usually overpriced due to poor availability. I bought my brother a set of 515's last Christmas. I like them, taking into consideration $$ spent (Holiday Sale). Comfortable and decent sound just nothing that really stands out good or bad. If you can spend the extra on the AD700's do it. Otherwise if you want a decent really comfortable set of open cans and only have $50 to spend the 515's aren't too bad. In that price range you should also consider the semi-open and debatably less comfortable AKG knockoffs Samson SR850, Superlux HD 681 and Superlux HD668B though.

The 515's do not hold a candle to the HD 555's. Not worth more than $35 or so IMO.
