Great..... All of those games are about armies fighting each other, or terrorists and counter terrorists....

They don't appear to contain anything even remotely related to a bombing and shooting one man rampage?

GTA maybe, but that lot... No.

Knee-Jerk reaction

Coop has decided to remove several popular games and other items deemed too "realistic" in how violence is portrayed, including:

Homefront
Call of Duty series
Sniper Ghost Warrior
Counter Strike Source
World of Warcraft
Lol, they're mind would be blown if they would have seen postal 2 and soldier of fortune..

Anyway, it wasn't like the games were banned in the whole country.
Only one chain banned the games

After the Norwegian PM declared brilliantly after the attacks, that Democracy will only increase, certain retailers decide to ban violent games and other violent media therefore taking away peoples freedom to play these games. One guy commits a terrorist attack but the retailers decide that the other 4.9 million people of Norway are also possible mass murderers. I'd say banning 1500 page manifestos would be a better option. (Sorry if this post was more political and less technological view point).

Thank the PC Master Race gods that Battlefield 3 isn't on this list..My cousin who is norwegian and lives in Norway is a big Battlefield fan, and i know he would be devastated if BF3 were banned.

Banning games like this is pointless and a waste of time and money. They would be better off banning stupidity but then they would need a whole new government. These kinds of knee jerk re-actions should be banned.

Besides he obviously didn't play much if any CoD because if he did and that was where they think he learned how to mass murder then why was he walking around and not camping in a building somewhere.

EDIT: To people who have their heads up their asses, Coop decided to temporarily take videogames off their shelves, due to respect of the people involved in the mass murder.

This "ban" will help in two ways: Steam will become more popular in Norway; and the competition will rake in more business because that is where people will go to buy games.

Video games have nothing to do with it - the dude was just nuts and went off the deep end. The only thing about it is that it was in Norway, where this kind of stuff doesn't happen - unlike elsewhere, where it is common place and not even newsworthy...
They're only temporarily removing it in the "Coop" stores which is mostly grocery stores, and their games isn't really cheap anyways, the other retailers i.e Gamestop still got them

Source?: I'm Norwegian
