I don't understand all this Torchlight love. The game was worth 5 bucks when on sale through Steam but other then that it had absolutely nothing new to it. It was a very simple (we're talking Diablo 1 simple) game with numerous repeated looking environments...

Titan Quest and Dungeon Seige 1 and 2 both blew it out the water.

The auction house concept is what I'm concerned about. I'll have to see how it affects the game, regardless of if it had it or not, I hadn't planned on PVP'ing. So, that's an aspect I'm not concerned about.

No mod support doesn't bother me either.
The thing is, like I said, that is going on already in just about every online RPG out there (including Diablo 2). At least this prevents people from getting screwed, and helps out the developer.
In progress.

Yeah, but both Dungeon Siege and Titan Quest didn't have kiddy graphics!!! All joking aside, I did actually play Torchlight and beat it, it was fun, but I wouldn't kneel down and kiss its boots.

The Auction House concept sounds good on paper but I'm not sure how well it will work in a player driven economy. I certainly wouldn't be using it to buy anything that's for sure. It certainly gives good reason for the DRM and anti modding stance.

It being public and obviously allowed vastly affects this too.

Edit - As long as Diablo 3 doesn't turn into Gunbound, it shouldn't be an issue.

If you are buying the games the DRM should not affect you. Its a piracy protection system. But having it online only is a bit restrictive. Thankfully my main rig is always plugged in.

AH does not affect me either since there will be both versions, real and in game cash.

Anyone who thinks the ingame auction house is going to ruin the game has never really played diablo II. It's already got them, they're just third party.

In fact, it at least gives you a chance to sell items you find and don't want. People should be happy it's just as easy for them to sell items as it was for the item shops.

Since blizzard gets a small cut, maybe they will have a vested enough interest in the item economy to keep it balanced and to patch any dupes, which wasn't the case for diablo II. This is, overall, a good thing for the game. Even for the people who won't be using the auction house.

Don't really care about the Real $$ Auction house, if people want to spend real money on virtual items then go ahead. The constant internet connection is stupid but won't affect me because I won't be playing on a laptop. The no mod support I don't really care about either because I never modded D2 anyway.

However I really don't like how they removed stat points and skill points. Also, from what I've seen it doesn't really look like Diablo to me. Something about the way it looks and how it plays just seems so different. Maybe its the 3D graphics engine and the animations that look weird to me but I guess I'm just used to Diablo 2's old graphics and feel. It also looks much more linear in level design from the videos I've seen.

I'll probably pass on buying it on release and wait a few days/weeks to see how it turns out.
