What's slowing my network down?

My network just went from fairly fast to unacceptable slow, we are talking about from 1.5Mb/s to 40Kb/s.

I'd done complete virus scan, restarted router and computer.

Who is your ISP?
How much did you torrent last month?

Seeing as today is the 1st you may be getting throttled.

How does this work? Wouldn't you get throttled when you hit a certain mark, and it reset the 1st of the following month?

Depends on the ISP. Some throttle when you hit a cap, some the next month, some for 30days when you cap, some only imply that they will throttle.

Hard reset the modem (usually hold rest button 10sec) then try direct computer to modem connection to rule out router. If that works hard reset the router and add it to the loop.

Also try getting speed tests from a few different sites on the off chance there are just routing issues near you.
