I'm not brand-loyal with anything else in my computer, but I've had three Seasonic-manufactured PSUs in a row after I focused on having a quiet PC and I have always been impressed with Seasonic's quiet stability. They also consistently underrate the actual maximum power output of their PSUs.
Going to have to give a +1 on the SeaSonic recommendation. My 650W is fully modular and quiet. My PC sits 2 feet away from me and it's almost completely silent. (i'm probably hearing my 2x120mm fans and my video card.)

Thanks everyone for their input, I just made a run to Fry's and picked up the AX850.

Now it is time to order some more things from Nils to finish up the build

That's a nice choice you made for a psu, you could have done worse.

I have to agree, after looking at the cables and such, this is one amazing PSU, just begging to be sleeved .

For me, I've been rather happy with my XFX 850W modular power supply. I'm not sure if it would be good to run dual 6990s, however it should be able to handle what you are throwing at it right now with the potential to support 6970 xfire + 6990.

The 1200W is definitely overkill unless you are planning on really overkilling your system with powerful parts (including heavy overclocking of them)

I was considering a XFX "very early on" in my PSU search till I found out that of their lack of customer/warranty service from many. I don't doubt it's a good enough product for many.

This is the main complaint, but yes they are fantastic products for their cost. It just comes at a sacrifice of customer service you would get from say they great guys at Antec or Corsair which are second to none.

Yes they are, at least the XXX series is. It's a M12II in a flashy casing, you might know this platform from it's roots back in PCP&C's famous power supplies right before they soiled their name.
