S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky Low FPS? - Page 2

If you get strange performance, drivers are often the problem. Try installing the latest drivers for your GPU and tick the clean install option so it fully removes the old drivers.

If it's still greyed out that means it's using the compatibility mode selected, even if there's no check in the box.

This could easily be another issue, but, unless you're using extremely old drivers it's not a driver issue, unless something's occurred between the time you tried the other two games and this one.

Try to verify the cache, might as well reinstall drivers just in case, only make one change at a time so you know what the issue was.

I still strongly recommend you try to stop Steam from running in Vista compatibility mode so we can completely rule that out. There's no known reason as to why Steam was running in Vista comp mode in the first place, but, for many people, it is, it's likely a game or games that were launched in the past forced it and we simply forgot.

We can talk in PM's if you want, it's more direct.

Excellent

My reason for thinking there's an issue occurring instead of it simply being game settings is you're on a dual core, you said Prip ran great even though it's a quad core game and you're on a dual core, now you're trying Clear Sky which should be less hardware intensive.

Clear Sky is the toughest in the series to run maxed out, actually.

So I know for sure you shouldn't be expecting to play it maxed out on a mobile 260, even at a pretty low resolution. My old 295 couldn't even max it completely at without noticeable lag at certain times (at 1920x1200), nor could my 5850's in xfire.

The Sun Rays are brutal in that game, esp. on High, from the hours of like 6-10am when they're out in full force. All the dropdown selectors you should have on their lowest settings, and don't use 4xAA, use 2x at most, or none. Basically those dropdowns on the higher levels are the settings that kill ya in that game, along w/the AA.

I got this too. Call of Pripyat runs 100x better. Clear Sky is known for being very buggy and unoptimized and running poorly even on high end systems. I don't think there is much you can do about it.
