Ride it longer. It's not too bad, Upgrade GPU when needed but something not too insane because IDK about that PSU.

Little more than $500 and perhaps selling q8400 and you can have yourself a fine fine new computer. Again that one is not too bad though..

I would upgrade to a 2500k and P67 MoBo w/ DDR3. I just did it and it ran me just under $500 including tax. 2500k = ~$200, P8P67 Pro = $175, 8GB DDR3 = $60. Total = $435 before tax, roughly $470 after tax depending on where you live. You can also spend another $25 and get a cooler master hyper212+ so you can OC the 2500k to 4.5Ghz. That comes out to a total of right around $500 and will give you more bang for your buck than anything else you could do.

If you don't want to do a complete overhaul, you could upggrade your GPU (~$220) and buy a CPU heatsink (~$30) so that you can try overclocking your Q8400 (not familiar with the chip, so idk what it overclocks to).

Why do you feel the urge to upgrade? (Specific points in your computing that you feel is lacking)

I agree with Jagz, save the $500 and ride it out a bit more. Prob $100 more to replace the cpu/mobo/ram/power supply, like what Zzari stated. Power supply because I'm not confident a generic PSU is going to cut it when you upgrade.

I definitely would upgrade the power supply before thinking of upgrading the GPU or overclocking.
