Framerate capped at 30fps issue in JUst Cause 2 (with video) why is this happening? - Page 2

It is a v-sync problem you were spot on. With vsync off im at 70 and on in game or in NVCP i get the same 30 fps cap. I tried everything you said though and it still didnt work. I get 45 minimum in that same grass and flowers with vsync off.. I could play like that but i notice the tears and it is a little frustrating.

Is there any other solutions now that i know its a vsync issue?

If the framerate is more stable it was a Vsync issue, though, the drop to 30 with Vsync off changing to an average 45 with it on doesn't make sense.

It would actually make more sense if that was reversed.

I have had this frame-rate drop in grassy areas or areas that have lots of foliage to render. I think the difference is simply caused by a lack of rendering power. There is more stuff on screen to render than in other places in the game and the performance reflects it. I have v-sync disabled and get roughly the same frame-rates you describe.

This happened on my system before the 2nd 580. For some reason if the FPS goes below 50-52 with Vsync enabled, it drops to 30. Smells like console mischief.

If you are recording with fraps it caps the frame-rate to whatever you have it set to record at. If you are recording at 30 fps then it will cap at 30. At 60 it will cap at 60 and so on. Fraps has no effect on frame-rate when only displaying fps.

This sounds like what happened with Serious Sam 2. I noticed many years ago with Vsync enabled in the game the framerate seemed to be capped at 30, even on a 60hz display, with it disabled in game and enabled in drivers the apparent cap disappeared and everything was as it should be.

Edit - I'm already aware of what my framerate was is the area where I saved, so, I'm going to disable Vsync in the game and leave it enabled in the drivers and see what happens.

Edit 2 - I gained 5 frames at all times in areas it was previously running at 29-31.

Ice blade I wasn't recording though. It was just general gameplaying with fraps on to check my fps. It's definately an issue because my core usage drops as does my gpu usage. That wouldn't happen in a tough area unless something was wrong? I'm just xo fused as why it's doing it.

Why would it stop at 30 flat... If it was a graphical error or tough the fps would go lower. No cap at 30 . Stupid v sync.
