I'd rather have an all in one solution instead of beakers and decanters with gas operated burners (they are forbidden in camps btw).

Hrmmm... Wouldn't I look cool with this in my room...

Linky

If somehow I could get the loop to connect with the water beaker inside the case to heat up the water and have the distiller outside the case (with hope that the ambient's could be enough to cool it), it would create a distiller within the computer. Fold,3 days and some time later I'd have some distilled water... wouldn't that be like the most efficient way?!

Hell I think I'd win a noble...

Have it somehow sealed with the recipient of distilled water (eliminate contaminents). It'd take a while, but the time it would take would be the indicator for your loop maintenence.

My god, I think I just found something I might make a mod out of...

Can it be done?!

Ohh, the rear gromets on the 650D would do perfect for the elbow. I need to find a bracket that can accommodate the beaker (my new config will have fans pulling heat inside the case). If I can get that, the above ambients might be enough to heat the water for distillation. I could use the puters folding heat to distill my water for me.

Seriously, is no one esle thinking this is an awesome idea?!

Honestly, It wouldn't be 100% pure, But a modded coffee maker could do the job. If you are so far out in the boonies that you can't get decent distilled water ANYWHERE other than making it, How the hell do you even have a pc much less enough power for a pc?

I don't think you will be able to buy a commercially produced water still for a practical price. I think your best bet is just buying the distilled water or rigging up your own distillation setup.

Although at a camp I imagine people will accuse you of making drugs or moonshine when they see a distillation setup.

I work in a science department of a major university and I was able to take home an old still that nobody wanted. My father saw it one day when he was helping me move and he thought it was a Bong. To this day he still thinks its a Bong and gets offended when I suggest otherwise, like I'm trying to trick him. Besides, if I smoked drugs in it would it really be crystal clear with zero residue?

Dude, read the posts above. I'm on a camp that's building a HYDRO DAM. We have more water and power than any other part of the world. The two dams next to each other produce 1200KW/hour (without counting all the other dams in Quebec). Water is not an issue. I also don't pay for power. Distillation (if sealed) is as good as any (using lab equipment). And also, one meter cubed of water is one metric ton. Costs a ****load to ship.

So, with that out of the way. I think I might just devise a plan to make this thing...

Pressure cooker + a coil of copper connected to the vent, sloped down into another container.

If it was me, I'd speak with whoever handles the supplies for the camp and ask them to get a gallon of distilled water though...

Distilled water and Distilled "DE-IONIZED" water are different. Just because it is distilled does not mean it is ion free. De-ionization is an additional process. I'm willing to bet that your home made distilled water would still be conductive. It would be free of most contaminants though.

Doesn't have to be complicated. Just need to work.

If I'm wrong then tell me. But if I'm going to fold with 3 GPU's and a CPU, with all the rads pulling air into the case. I can expect around a 30c to 35c temp within the case. If the water is at 30 to 35c and the ambients at around 20 to 25c then condensation can happen (though very slow). If the system is sealed, then the water is distilled when it reaches the outside of the case.

Am I wrong here?
