Best mobo for i5 sandy bridge build

Thread Starter
Hey everybody I was wondering what board everybody would recommend for and core i5 sandy bridge build. I was gonna go with

ASUS P8P67 DELUXE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

but then I was also thinking of this one

ASUS SABERTOOTH P67 (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Which board would be best for a gaming rig with these components?

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz

MSI Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

LITE-ON 12X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 12X DVD-RAM 8X BD-ROM 8MB Cache SATA Blu-ray Burner

CORSAIR Professional Series HX850 (CMPSU-850HX) 850W ATX12V 2.3

Windows 7 Home Premium

Or what boards would everybody recommend?

If you had to absolutely choose between those two, I'd go with the Sabertooth just because it's cheaper.

If I could add my I'd nominate the P67 ASRock Extreme4

I'd go with asus P8P67 PRO. Cheaper,, great ocer. same pci-e as the deluxe. Only 2-3 thing missing from the deluxe version for a good amounth of money. It's a good bang for the buck mobo.

So you would go sabertooth over the other but you suggest the ASRock over them both. No the definatly don't have to be between the two I pick I will take all suggestions on what other's think would be better. Especially if I plan to use water cooling later and would like to use a motherboard water block eventually

Yup, I would definitely suggest the Extreme4 over them both (but I am biased ). Really though, I don't think you can go wrong with any P67 board in the $150-$200 price range, so pick whichever is best for your budget.

On my Extreme4, I've gotten my 2500K to 4.1GHz stable with 1.224v hovering around 72C with the STOCK cooler! It's a really good board.

I agree, and would add that the Extreme4 Gen3 boards are now out as well. PCI-E 3.0 for a bit of future proofing, and a bunch of nice features as well. Loving mine.

And of course the most important thing is it looks cool.

ASUS P8P67 Pro Rev 3.0. Just like Billy_5110 said, it is basically the same board as the Deluxe minus a few features that you don't really need with your build. If you have the money, then get the deluxe, but you probably don't need it.

I wouldn't go with the Sabertooth because I've read of people having problems with the plastic casing trapping head and/or getting in the way of things.
