questions about i7 build

Thread Starter
I have had this build for about 4-5 months now and I'm really liking it. The next upgrade I'm thinking of getting is a second GTX 580, another PSU, and six more Gigs of ram (my build is in my sig). The one thing i'm curious about is how long do you think my build will be good for? I know Ivy bridge will be scheduled to release soon and I'm just curious if an Ivy bridge will be worth upgrading from an i7-950 @ 4ghz. How long do you guys think my build can last?

Your build can last very even past 2013. But in 2013, I would advise you to upgrade to the new CPU =]

You think the new CPU will be LGA 1366?

The new cpus will be LGA 1155 or LGA 2011. A second GTX 580 will probably make your CPU the bottleneck. Unless your unning 2560x1600 you really won't need any upgrades. Wait for LGA 2011 before you do anything or upgrade your monitor.

Are LGA 2011 going to be running DDR3 or is DDR4 coming out as well?

Also do you think I should just wait until about 2013 or so to upgrade? Like would it be that much of a difference? All I do on my PC is game and I can pretty much run every on max settings including metro 2033 and crysis 2.
