MSI Afterburning OCing GTX 580sc

Thread Starter
So been having a go at OCing my 580sc,

currently i have been using my core clock@832,shader clock @ 1664, and Memory clock @2055, roughly a 10% OC.

I wanna push the card to at least 850 clock and i have tried succesfully, but when i try and save the profile into one of the five available slots in MSI afterburner, when i select it after using a different profile, the profile is just on stock with no resemblance of my saved overclock.

I am able to manually set the OC but not save it... hmmmm

Also, do i have to rais the memory clock alongside the core clock and shader clock?

Do you press save and then press the number? That's how to properly save.

Also memory clock is independent from core clock, only the shader is linked to memory.

What i meant was, should i move the memory clock up each time i do a core and shader clock bump ?

It still wont save when i try the 850 clock and 1700 shader, i can manually apply it but if i choose another profile then try to enable the 850/1700 it wont work, it will either adjust to normal stock speeds.

When you move the memory clock, it also adjusts the shader clock and vice versa. But core clock is completely independent and there is no need to raise it or lower it depending on what you do to the memory/shader. I think most 580s get to 2150mhz or 2200mhz on the shader, and the core clock is going to vary wildly depending on the quality of the GPU and how much voltage you are applying.

As far as why profiles won't save, I have no idea.

Sorry but that is not correct. The core clock and shader clock are linked together in afterburner. The memory is separate.

Are you running the latest Afterburner? How many profiles do you have set now? Make sure you apply before trying to saving any profile.

Hey Sockpirate, did you buy chance have another software utility program like Precision running at any time?

Only time this exact thing happened to me, is when I didn't realize I had another program set to start with windows and it was changing or not allowing me to save my over clock.
