NewEgg Open Box & MSI's

Thread Starter
I've been watching the Newegg open boxe deals daily for a few months now. Not that I'm looking for a card myself, just curious. Some really great deals. Have to be very quick to purchase some of them too. Anyway I digress....

I've noticed one trend on the open box sales that they are mostly MSI cards. Both Nvidia and AMD, and majority is Twin Frozr II, III, Lightnings, and Hawks.

What is it about the MSI cards that Newegg has constantly being returned where they are forced to re-sell them as open box?

Is it just me or has anyone else watching seeing this trend?

My guess is that they are the most popular and most purchased, so naturally it's just due to higher numbers.

Anyone who's purchased a MSI Newegg open box, can you please reply to this post and how has your purchase been?

I know it's speculation as to the 'why'?

MSI uses Newegg as an outlet to resell open box and recertified product, not all of it was sold by Newegg originally.

Plus, MSI has a Serial-based 3 year warranty. So if you are one of those guys that gets a new graphics card every year or so, get an MSI.

These things have incredible resell value because of the Serial warranty (UNLIMITED TRANSFERS!!!). Hence why I bought an Open Box Reference MSI HD6970

Runs like a champ at 980/1475

i get the feeling people use newegg's return policy to buy cards and send them back until they get one that OCs like a boss. lol

i got a 560 Ti Golden Edition open box and it had an overheating issue. it is currently at the MSI facilities, as i have already sent it in as an RMA. if interested, i can let you know how the process goes if you PM me

GL with that. I waited 3 weeks trying to grab a 2nd Lightning for SLI. I saw one go up in that 3 week period and I wasn't fast enough on the clicking, it was bought in under 3 minutes.

I picked up a 580 Lightning today actually, open box. Ive been having it refresh every 30seconds for 2-3 weeks now and this is the first time seeing them go up. Luckily I grabbed it, and it stayed in stock for about 5-10seconds.
